Mike MacKay
Mike MacKay, Whatcom MRC representative to the Commission, is a retired Fisheries Biologist who had a long and rewarding career with the Lummi Nation. He has conducted a number of field studies in the Nooksack River Basin and adjacent marine waters. These included salmon spawner surveys, juvenile salmon beach seine sampling, mainstem river smolt trapping, herring and smelt spawn surveys. He also performed various research studies including a South Fork Nooksack Chinook redd survival study and juvenile brood collection for the Lummi Skookum Hatchery, and a herring egg embryo survival study at Cherry Pt. He now enjoys boating in the Salish Sea, biking, hiking, and flying.
