Congratulations to the newly named Salish Sea Alliance, formerly known as the NW Straits Foundation. Founded in 2001, the NW Straits Foundation has led and supported important work throughout the Northwest Straits region. Their dedication to achieving partnership-based outcomes over the years evolved into a highly productive collaborative conservation approach across the Salish Sea. The new name reflects their commitment to Tribal, agency, and community partnerships in this expanded region.
Key Marine Resources Committee partnerships have included Shore Friendly, derelict crab pot removal and prevention, beach restoration, and stewardship at Cornet Bay, Hoypus Point, Bowman Bay, and Clayton Beach and serving as a technical advisor for the Skagit County Nearshore Assessment and Priorities tool. These partnerships have provided enormous value to marine conservation in the Salish Sea and will advance further collaboration for years to come.
