Port Townsend Marine Scavenger Hunt

Port Townsend Scavenger Hunt 2026

Welcome to the 2026 MRC Conference Scavenger Hunt!

This one‑hour, self‑guided walking activity highlights six Jefferson MRC and partners' projects located within easy walking distance of the Port Townsend Northwest Maritime Center.

Visit all six sites, answer their questions, and find the letters hidden on an oyster shell at each stop. Put the letters together to decode the final word. When you’ve solved it, visit any Jefferson County MRC member during the conference and claim your glory as a finisher!

How It Works

  1. Use the printed card found in your conference packet to see the map and site numbers.
  2. Walk to each of the six sites located between Point Hudson and the Ferry Terminal.
  3. At each site:
  • Answer the question on your card.
  • Find the shell with a letter on it.
  • Write down the letter.
  • When you’ve collected all six letters, solve the final word.
  • Check in with a Jefferson MRC member with your results.

Learn More About Each Site Project

Each location below includes a short description and optional links to deeper information about the project or partner organization.

Site 1: Point Hudson Jetty

MRC members raised concern about the animals of this popular dive site when the Port of Port Townsend planned to replace the jetty. To avoid killing the critters, volunteer divers from WA Scuba Alliance and the local community relocated over 4000 invertebrates to a new dive site created by the Port in 2023.
