Interview challenge

We are inviting all conference attendees to help capture the energy and excitement of the annual MRC conference by recording short, on‑the‑spot member interviews. This is a fun and easy way to highlight the personality and energy of the NW Straits community. It is also a great opportunity to share member voices from our once a year gathering and these videos could also provide great material for social media, outreach for MRC recruitment. After the conference, we may stitch some clips together into a social media highlight reel. Individual MRCs are welcome to use their own interview videos for recruitment, outreach, or local promotion. 

All you need is your phone and a willing interviewee. Interviews can be quick, informal, and under one minute. Please record vertical video for easy social media use. 

We encourage participants to pair up and interview each other. Don’t worry about messing up, we can always edit things out. 

SUGGESTED PROMPTS (pick 2-3 or all!): 

  • Please start here: Name and MRC or Organization or Position on the Commission. Number of years you’ve been there 
  • What do you enjoy most about being an MRC member (or working in the NW Straits community)? 
  • Why are marine resources important to you?  
  • What MRC project or accomplishment are you most excited about right now? 
  • How did you hear about and get involved with your MRC?  
  • What would you tell someone who is thinking about joining an MRC? 
  • Something you learned at the conference or something you want to learn more about? 

  • What is your favorite thing about the annual conference? Or What is one memorable moment from this year’s event? 

You may also come up with your own prompts, especially if there is something special you want to share. We just ask that everyone starts with your name and MRC (or organization). 

HOW TO: 

  1. Record your video interview 
  2. Tap your camera app and scan the QR code or if you are reading this on your phone select email media (it will open an email)

  3. Select the video you want to share from your library and attach it to the email 
  4. Put your name in the subject link and send your email  
  5. That’s it! Your video will automatically upload to our collection folder. 
  6. You will get a notification “Success! Your email attachment was successfully uploaded to Box”
