Clallam MRC Pinto Abalone 2024
Pinto abalone restoration, through monitoring of wild populations and creation of new populations using conservation aquaculture, will help ensure the survival of this endangered species in Washington State. A critical component of this approach is filling significant knowledge gaps related to the abundance and distribution of remnant populations in the Salish Sea, including the Strait of Juan de Fuca (Strait). Existing efforts by Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) and Puget Sound Restoration Fund (PSRF) to locate these populations have been opportunistic rather than deliberate; due to capacity constraints. This is a summary report for 2024.

The goal was to improve stewardship by educating both homeowners and professionals. This is a report of the findings.

Jefferson MRC Storm Surge 2024
The Storm Surge Project is derived from Sea Grants King Tide Project. Starting in 2016 a group of volunteers in Port Townsend started to photograph King Tides at three locations around town during King Tides that aligned with meteorological conditions that would result in high total water levels. Low pressure and strong winds can add storm surge and wave run up that can create water levels significantly higher than the tide level. This is a summary of the project in 2024.
